This Fall we will be reading Tim Keller's A Gospel in Life: Grace Changes Everything. Join us at SVBC on Wednesdays for this 8-week study from September 12th - October 31st. There will be a morning session from 9:15-11:00 and an evening session (time to be determined) as well. Study books are $10 each. Please sign up in the church office and pay for your book or let us know if you need us to cover the cost for you. All women are invited.
Please join us for the community-wide Annual Worship in the Park. Church service will be held at Jackson Park in Hood River. SVBC will be there along with other Gorge churches. Bring your chairs or blankets and enjoy an outdoor sermon. There will be no service at SVBC that day.
This event will be hosted in private homes on Friday, June 1 following dinner hour (6:30 ish).
You can sign up to either host or attend. If you are not a game person, we will have the option for dessert only.
Sign up table will be set up in foyer following church or you can contact Chris Sherrell 541-400-0773.
Join us at our annual plant exchange and potluck. Bring labeled plants, tools, gardening books, pots, etc that you no longer want. Take what you can use. Bring a dish to share at the potluck. John and Carolyn Stevens are hosting at their home (589 East Side Rd). You are welcome to come even if you don't have plants to share. There should be plenty of plants and food for all!
Join the women of SVBC at Connie Nagreen's home for another Cooking Together lunch. All ingredients will be provided and everyone will work together to prepare the dishes. You must RSVP to the office by Sunday, April 22nd to allow for the planning and purchasing of enough food on time. The menu includes Garden Quiche, Crustless Shrimp Quiche, Green Salad, and Sorbet with cookies. Thanks!
There will be a church-wide hike for any and all skill levels to Catherine Creek following church service on 4/15. Please bring or wear comfortable shoes and appropriate clothing. This hike is a few miles of easy to moderate terrain, with some lovely wild flowers to view (hopefully). Please bring a sack lunch you can eat on the way over or after the hike, and of course water! If for some reason the weather turns to rain we will cancel the hike, otherwise we will press on. Contact Chris Sherrell for more information. Please let her know if you will need a ride. Parents, children are welcome to participate with your supervision.
We will be discussing Christina Baker Kline's A Piece of the World at Carolyn Stevens' home. Contact the office if you need her address. Carolyn is providing a light lunch so please let us know if you are coming so she can plan the right amount of food. Contact the office or use the signup sheet on the church bulletin board to RSVP.
Anna Jensen and her parents will be hosting a lasagna feed after church on the the 25th of March. Anna will soon be leaving for Lausanne, Switzerland to attend the Biblical Core Course with YWAM and is still in need financially to be fully funded. The idea is to come and eat a Sunday lunch by donation but ALL are welcome to enjoy food and fellowship time around the table. Both gluten free and vegetarian options will be available.
It's time for some early Spring cleaning of your closets. Bring in any clothes, jewelry, or accessories that you no longer want. Everyone will have the chance to "shop" what others have brought and take what you like for free. Anything left over will be donated afterwards. Even if you don't have anything to donate, please come anyway and shop the goods.
This month's women's dinner will be a LUNCH! And it's the second installment of our Cook Together series. This is where we meet at someone's home and then we all prepare our meal together and get to fellowship while we cook and wait. And then we eat it all together family style. It's so much fun and all the ingredients are provided by the church. All you need to bring is yourself.
Please sign up as soon as possible since we need to shop for ingredients and make sure we have enough space. Thank you!
