Home Groups
Sunday morning is not complete in helping us practice being a Jesus follower. We need a laboratory for practicing love and being loved, for learning how to let Jesus tame our screaming need for independence and self-referencing, for finding fresh ways to read Scripture together and then share our life stories around its narrative.
And, lest we forget, to break bread together. The mystery of eating together is one we have come to highly value. The table. Bringing food to be passed from one to the next. The winding conversations that take place. All of this has become quite holy and necessary to us.
“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” - John 13:35
This has been our goal and roadmap to our weekly experiment; in getting together for what we have named home group; If we can learn to love inside the fellowship, perhaps our loving outside will experience a completeness that we have needed.
Home groups at Shepherd provide a place for us to meet, grow, study, learn, and engage with one another during the week. We have several groups that currently meet each week and have more starting up this Fall.
If you have any interest in being part of a group that presently meets or would like to start a group, please contact us at the church office.
