Greenhouse Island

About Greenhouse Island

Greenhouse Island is the Wednesday night children's program at Shepherd of the Valley that runs from September through March.

The Island is where children will learn how to navigate the Bible. This is one way to help demystify this big book for them.

The curriculum is divided into four age-appropriate levels. Our first group, the Flamingos, are infants through 3 years old. Our second group, the Parrots, are 4 years old through 1st grade. Our third group, the MaCaws, are 2nd & 3rd graders. Our fourth group, the Toucans, are 4th & 5th graders.

This season, 2025/26, all the groups will be digging into the New Testament together. There is a short teaching time each week, followed by time to learn the New Testament books by memory, memorize Scripture verses, compete in games, work out puzzles , mazes, quizzes, and work on craft projects. Weekly they will be compiling their own New Testament "My Bible Book” throughout the entire season. Every week they have the opportunity to earn doubloons for all the work they do and then can spend them on prizes from "The Coconut Shack" (The Island Store). The season ends with an awards night and ice cream social that highlights and celebrates all the children and the hard work they have put in all season.

The Island Pledge below highlights the heart and purpose of Greenhouse Island.

We want all children to have the opportunity to deepen their love and devotion to Jesus and to His Word. Both are a vital part of the daily life of a follower of our Lord.

Invite your friends to join us as we dig for buried treasure on Greenhouse Island!

Women's Prayer Retreat

Annually the women of Shepherd meet to have a prayer retreat. All are given guides and suggestions in case you are not sure of where to start. At the beginning of the day with coffee or tea in hand, it may seem like the time will creep by slowly, but the time flies.

There is a lunch break and the last session is spent in a group praying together.

Come join us for this time of recentering prayer!
